LAKE NAVARONE

Situated deep in the heart of the Southern Drakensberg (KZN Province) you will find a place that will instantly take your breath away. Time has a way of standing still once you enter through the gates of Lake Navarone. The 21 picturesque stoned cottages are either situated on the lakeside or in tranquil clearings shadowed by the surrounding woods. Each cottage has its own unique style but is all fully equipped to guarantee a comfortable stay. Each serviced cottage has a fireplace which makes for a romantic atmosphere in the evenings or on a rainy day.

Whether you prefer to relax in front of the fireplace reading a book, try your hand at fly fishing maybe even rowing a boat to the centre of the lake or horse riding, one thing is certain, you will enjoy each moment and each moment spent will make memories to last a lifetime. Time, relaxation, rest and comfort are there for your enjoyment when you spend a weekend or holiday at this perfect destination.

Fly fishing, horse riding, hiking and tube riding down the river or just visiting the Cheese farm nearby are some of the activities that you can enjoy. It is a great setting for family weekends and holidays and although there are no TV’s one rarely misses the sound of the TV or radio. Even the kids enjoy the outdoor activities and fun. Fun filled family days are here to enjoy and treasure.

During the winter months one will be blessed with sight of snow covering the tips of the surrounding mountains and in summer one will have the opportunity to see the surrounding fields at the lakes covered with an awesome blanket of lavender – a truly beautiful sight to behold. I have had the opportunity to visit Lake Navarone on two occasions and I can truly say that I have seen true beauty, felt at peace, inhaled the freshness of earth, heard the sound of silence and have touched a part of heaven.
